Arthur is our low-cost mobile robot platform, which serves as a reference platform for research and education in mobile manipulation, allowing researchers, developers, and robotics students to write their own control and application software. This enables tasks such as machine operations or transporting components in the context of „Industry 4.0“. Arthur consists of a chassis with omnidirectional movement capability, onto which a robot arm like the igus ReBeL can be mounted (for information on pricing of the robot arm, visit www.igus.de).
On the hardware side, Arthur can be equipped with various sensors, such as the Sensorring Vision360, which provides a 360° view of the environment. This allows for obstacle detection and navigation in complex environments. The platform is designed to be modular and customizable, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in robotics research and education.
Arthur is not only a cost-effective solution for educational institutions and research facilities but also a versatile platform for developing and testing new algorithms and applications in the field of mobile robotics. Its open architecture allows users to easily integrate additional sensors, actuators, and software components, making it a valuable tool for advancing the state of the art in mobile manipulation and robotics. Arthur is designed to be user-friendly, with a focus on ease of use and accessibility for students and researchers.
Arthur is a versatile platform that can be fully customized to meet the
specific needs of your project. Depending on your requirements, you can
choose from various configurations, including the igus ReBeL 6-DOF
robotic arm, a range of sensors such as the Sensorring Vision360, and
different software solutions.
With its modular design, Arthur allows you to easily integrate
additional components and sensors whenever needed. Its size and weight
can also be adjusted, making it suitable for a wide range of mobile
robotics applications. Arthur is more than just a robotic platform –
it is a complete solution for mobile manipulation tasks, offering
you the flexibility to tailor it precisely to your needs.
You have two options to customize your Arthur platform. You can choose a
pre-configured version, where we build the platform with all the
components you require, or opt for an empty chassis in the desired size,
which you can equip yourself with the components of your choice. Whether
you need a simple mobile robot for educational purposes or a complex
system for research and development, Arthur adapts seamlessly to your
requirements.
With Arthur, we are offering students as well as research and development companies a budget-friendly way to learn about different aspects of mobile robotics. In addition to the customisable robot platform, we also provide you with a digital twin that you can tweak in terms of hardware or programming before using it. Arthur can be adapted to any hardware setup you plan to use. Students from almost any technical course can join in developing the robot platform and compete together in the RoboCup@Work league. It‘s not just about learning how to build hardware or software for the robot, but also about sharing knowledge with teams from all over the world in the RoboCup@Work league.
